Class ACT

Class ACT is affiliated with Anacortes Community Theatre, and is aimed at providing the community with education in the theatre arts, both on and off stage.

Who are we?

The cast of "Striking Out"

Class ACT was formed as the Anacortes Community Theatre School for the Performing Arts, so our youth could learn more about acting and the theatrical process.  Started by a group of ACT directors, actors and parents, Class ACT set out to create a program to enrich their students’ lives.

How did we get here?

The first classes were on Saturdays and covered all the basics.  Then Class ACT evolved to put on a couple of Fringe performances, the first being “Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp” followed by “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, which showcased not only our kid talent but adults as well.

In 2004 Eal Lundquist came onboard as Coordinator for the school.  In an effort to broaden the class offerings, she expanded the school to offer after school, teen and adult classes.

The summer of 2006 was the founding year of Class ACT Summer Camp. That summer the camp used the ACT main stage and performed  “Peggy the Pint Sized Pirate” with two separate casts.  Summer 2007 saw the production of 'Striking Out, A Comedy in Six Innings' performed at the Causland Park Amphitheater!

Fall of 2007 marked the beginning of a new phase for Class ACT with the appointment of Co-Coordinators Marilyn Pinquoch and Glynna Goff-Eloe.  Bringing their years of educational training, performance experience, dance, vocal training and love of the performing arts to the Skagit Valley community.  They began their tenure with the children's hit 'Patchwork', performed on the ACT Mainstage and a tour to the Anacortes Elementary Schools, exposing 1,500  students to the performing arts.

In October of 2008 Willow McLaughlin took over the position of Program Coordinator and is excited for the upcoming programs.

Class ACT continues to grow and expand, with a dedicated committee supporting the Coordinator and instructors.  While continuing to improve the classes for youth and young adults, Class ACT is always looking to offer new classes and meet the needs of present and future thespians.

Scholarship Fund

Thanks to the generosity of the ACT Board, Class ACT has started a scholarship fund.  Class ACT offers scholarships to those interested in taking classes, but who may be otherwise unable to afford them.  Please consider sponsoring a scholarship by donating to the Class ACT Scholarship Fund.  There is a Donation Treasure Chest in the great room downstairs at ACT Theatre where you can drop in loose change, bills or even a generous tax deductible check.  All donations are greatly appreciated, and will help to enrich a deserving adult or a child's life. If you or your child would like to be considered for a scholarship please complete the Scholarhip Application on the Forms page of this website and return it to the ACT office.
